My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic is a fascinating phenomenon that has swept the internet in an interesting craze of colorful ponies and magic. Many people, when asked, have been clueless and inquisitive about this insanity and strangeness. If you ask a "brony" (a portmanteau of "bro" and "pony") why they watch this mysteriously great show, they'll give you a variety of answers why:
-Great animation quality
-Great voice actor skills
-Real, developed and well thought-out plot
-Cute, colorful ponies to add some flavor
-Humour not found in other shows
-Marketed towards all ages, not just the previously thought six year old girl demographic
Sethisto, Cereal Velocity, Phoe (pronounced "fee"), and Tekaramity all painstakingly run an extremely popular blog named Equestria Daily that posts news for the brony community every hour, most of which are Drawfriends (new art), Nightly Roundups (a collection of miscellaneous news), music videos, fanfiction and story updates, and art/sculptures/plushes of characters. The site now has over 57 million views, and is quickly gaining them at a fast rate of over 5 views per second. Many other sites exist for the fandom such as Ponychan, Ponibooru, FIMChan, and many, many Tumblr blogs made by bronies. (Warning, some are NSFW) When Lauren Faust (fow-st), the creator of My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic, The Powerpuff Girls, and Foster's Home for Imaginary Friends was confronted about this phenomenon, she wasn't too surprised. In fact, she loved that we love ponies. The internet sensation started on 4chan's /co/ (comics and animation) on October 10th, 2010 , then spread to it's /b/ (random, and opps, I broke rules 1 and 2 of the internet) It then spread like a "cancer" as described by the haters, and eventually some mods started deleting pony threads and banning members that posted ponies. These members came back through proxies, got banned again, but eventually won as the admins banned the moderators that committed these crimes against bronykind. Nothing else has ever beat 4chan, and the meme has been considered a subculture by Know Your Meme since early May.
Others support the show by purchasing the toys, making t-shirts, pins, patches, wallets, and many other things. You name it, somepony's probably made it. Another thing; there's a large list of pony jargon used by bronies somepony made. It's very useful for the pony newbie. Good luck in your new pony quest, and all the episodes can be found on Youtube or at http://www.derpyhooves.com.
