Believe or not there have been multiple cases in where people have claim to see their apple devices catch on fire and just randomly start to emit smoke. One of the recent cases to place in a plane in November 25, where numerous passengers and flight attendants swear to see the phone show a bright red glow on the screen, which was followed by a thick black smoke. The phone was then extinguished with no injuries. The case that started this confusion towards the reliability of the iPhone took place in Brazil where a customer reported the same signs when he left his iPhone to charge overnight. He reports the dense smoke woke him up in the middle of the night.
